This guide helps you on diagnosing and fixing your xbox 360, without the endless head-scratching or shelling out green.

If there is a problem with the Xbox360 the LEDs in the ring of light (the lights surrounding the power button) will flash in a particular pattern and the pattern tells the problem. A few patterns will show error codes. The error codes in this guide are described below their corresponding LED code.

Troubleshooting Your Xbox 360

A note: The LEDs are numbered 1-4, for convenience, where

1 is the LED on the top-left quarter of the ring of light

2 is the LED on the top-right quarter of the ring of light

3 is the LED on the bottom-right quarter of the ring of light

4 is the LED on the bottom-left quarter of the ring of light

ALL LEDs are blinking red

– The AV cable cannot be detected or is disconnected

Error Check Xbox 360

1. Check and ensure that the AV cable is securely connected to the Xbox 360 console. Check for loose or ill-fitting connections. Remove the AV cable from the Xbox 360 console and then reconnect it to the Xbox 360 console (this is called “resocketing” the cable).

2. If the four flashing red lights continue to flash, remove the AV cable, turn off the xbox, and wipe the cable ends thoroughly with a dry, non-static cloth.

3. If the AV cable is correctly connected but the LEDs are still flashing, replace the cable with a different AV cable if you have one available.

– The Xbox360 is Overheating. Overheating can be caused by the console locking up or “freezing” after a set amount of time. Lockups at a specific point in a game are not caused by overheating.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

1. Turn off the Xbox 360 and let the console cool for several hours. Do not power on the console while it is still hot.

2. Make sure that the console is ventilated and that the fan is working.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

To prevent this problem, use the following suggestions:

Do not block any vents on the Xbox 360.

Do not place the Xbox 360 on any soft surface that may block ventilation openings, like sofas.

Do not put the Xbox 360 in a enclosed space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, except if the space has good circulation.

Do not put the Xbox 360 near heat sources, like space heaters, a stove, a computer or an amplifier.

Allow for a clearance of 3-5 inches on all sides of the xbox 360, and organize the cables on the back of the xbox 360 so that they are not cluttered and/or impede airflow around the unit.

DO NOT EVER PUT YOUR CONSOLE IN THE FREEZER OR OUT IN COLD WEATHER

Electronic devices are designed to function at around room temperature. Extremely cold temperatures cause problems like extremely warm temperatures. If the unit is in a cold area while running, the difference in temperature will create moisture in the inner electronics, which will short-circuit your console. Condensation will happen more quickly if your xbox360 is overheating due to the greater difference in temperature. Additionally, rapidly cooling the Xbox360 after overheating induces thermal stress and creates small cracks, known as hairline fractures, on the sensitive circuit boards and other electrical components. Remember: When in doubt, DON’T.

– Hardware Failure

The hardware problem is determined by the code displayed on the screen. Some error codes are:

Error Code E64 – E65: DVD Drive Error. DVD Timeout (the dvd is wobbling too strongly or the drive is reading too slow), Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This may also be caused by the DVD tray not being fully closed on boot.

Error Code E66: DVD Drive Error: The DVD model or version does not match the version expected by the dashboard, or the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Check if the drive is the same version with the drive originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer.

Error Code E67 E68 E69 E79: Hard Drive Error. It could be a problem with the Hard Drive or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive. Other possibilities include an Eprom Error with the drive, or a problem with the fans. Try removing the hard drive.

Error Code E73: General Hardware Error: Ethernet port. This error is caused by a problem with the Ethernet port – bent pins, loose connections, hairline fractures, short circuits due to condensation etc. Bring the unit in for service.

Other errors are major, and are best resolved by taking the console for repair service by competent professionals.

Those are some of the most common problems with the Xbox 360 and their respective solutions. I hope this guide helped you in resolving the problems.

Make sure that the device is powered, connected, and used correctly

1. Make sure that the device is powered, connected, and used correctly.

Before deciding to send the Xbox for repairs, make sure that all the basics are accounted for. The correct power button must be pushed. All the lines and connections to the internet and the audio video system must be working as it should. Inspect any physical damages that could be an indication why the device isn’t working properly. Burnt marks, dents, and other physical defects should be inspected if present.

Look for error codes

2. Look for error codes.

Xbox 360 could give you tons of error codes to boggle about. Think of an Xbox like a specialized personal computer system that is manufactured to handle and process game software alone. The box may show different error codes that will give you a good idea as to where the problem is. Examples are system errors, LED errors, and console reset errors. If you can, research the meaning of these codes so you can decide if you should take the box to the repair center or try a few more things with it. System errors are almost always the worst-case scenario. LED errors, on the other hand indicate a different set of message for every off, lit, or blinking light is shows. Consult your manual for proper documentation.

3. Open the carriage.

If you have done everything outside of the box and none seemed to work, you could stop here and just take your Xbox to the repair experts. However, if you think you have a good idea as to what’s causing the problem inside the carriage and has impeccable background on electronics, you can proceed to opening the Xbox chassis and continue the repair from the inside. Open the Xbox chassis according to the set guidelines. You won’t find the instructions on how to dismantle your device on the manual, so don’t bother to look for it. If you are not confident about looking for the screws, bolts, and locks that the Xbox 360 is equipped with, never mind the screwdriver and just take the device to the center.

Look for the damaged part inside

4. Look for the damaged part inside.

Rarely does the Xbox’s processor or motherboard get busted. But if they do, you don’t have much of a choice but to ditch the set altogether and get a new one. The processor and the board costs so much and repairing a broken Xbox due to these reasons is a little impractical. More often than not, the hard drive of the Xbox is the main culprit. Look for the hard drive and check if it has any physical damages. Without notable physical defects on the hard drive, the problem could be on the system files or software side. You have to use all your software programming skills to make your game console working again. However, reformatting the Xbox hard drive isn’t as easy as reformatting computer hard drives. You have to find the necessary files, mods, and firmware necessary to get the box working in its best condition again.

If you are looking for an Xbox 360 Repair Manual, then you need to know they are quite a lot of manuals and guides to choose. For this reason, it is important to have a little research, which is why I for a few hours and more than a hundred dollars, to determine the leaders was the best for the Xbox 360 repair. Although each manual is only about $20 or $30, you do not want to get your time in the bad manual, because it is simply too painful, have things with your Xbox for more than an hour and then not have no work.

Many guides on the Internet now come in PDF format or video. , Which I would like to personally recommend you to focus on those who are on the video. Due to the nature of the video, and how they can easily break and when you plug it is ideal for this kind of thing you need to stop and start while you are in s’ accustomed to this process.

Even if you always have the option with most travel guides to be used simply following a long e-book instructions, I think you see that it is much easier to simply the video. Due to this reason, the focus was mainly on the examination of the officer, the video.

It is important to note that these guidelines mainly to the fixing of the three rings of death problem with the Xbox 360 console. If you are looking for something other than a problem with the laser or something else, then you will be in May, the big, unfortunately, because it is much more technology and more a problem with the hardware.

So are the three guides, which you are interested in May to three permanent put a red light, Xbox 360 fixing the traffic lights, and 360, a red light. Now I know that all these names sound roughly the same, but they are in fact all the different guidelines. That is a good thing that both the first two guides, which means they include both video and PDF instructions. Both guides are available on low price, number, the address of the basis of instructions, and you can do the work.

The fact I found the third manual, 360 light sets, so professionally, even if he only video when I bought him. The fact is that the video production of this educational guide was so high quality, it is very easy to follow, and I found it very useful and helpful. While the other has two video guides, it is simply not in the amount of 360, a red light.

One of the most frustrating things that a game console user can encounter is where the gadget keeps on freezing, sometimes right in the middle of a game or an interesting video.

Suppose, for instance, that you are a Microsoft Xbox 360 user who is faced with common incidences of the Xbox 360 freezing right in the middle of your games or other activities on it. You will probably want to know what is causing the Xbox 360 freezing, and what you can do about it.

Now one thing you will need to take note of, when you are faced with frequent incidences of Xbox 360 freezing, is that such free-ups could be an ominous sign of serious faults with the console on the way. Indeed, cases of the Xbox 360 freezing frequently are said to be among the classic signs that an Xbox 360 red ring of death error is imminent (the Xbox 360 red ring of death being one of the commonest Xbox 360 problems, associated with errors in the graphics chip of the console).

Another type of Xbox 360 freezing that can be equally frustrating are where the whole gadget does not freeze, but just parts of it (say its hard disk), so that attempts to access files in the hard disk turn out to be futile.

Dealing with the freezing instances in Xbox 360 is unfortunately not very easy. Sometimes, when faced with something like hard disk freezes, there is little you can proactively do; but typically, just switching the console off and on again sorts the problem for the time being (and sometimes, it might be months before you get to notice the same problem again). If the problem is too persistent, you might consider taking the gadget to a good technician to get it sorted out, or back to the vendor who sold it to you if it is still under warranty.

Even in the Xbox 360 freezes that might be warning signs of an impending red ring of death, there is still little you can really do to avert the ring…though for the most part, as with most Microsoft product, switching it off, letting it ‘cool’ down and then switching it again is all you have to do to get the matter sorted.
